The School and its Teaching
staff have a clear role in monitoring the effective delivery of the curriculum.
There are sound arguments for the evaluation to be carried out by an outside
agency. The advantages of using such an agency include, Transparent Independence,
Technical Expertise and the fact that some Staff find it easier to talk frankly
to a dispassionate outsider than to a colleague.
The monitoring of the curriculum should, however, been seen to be a function
of the Senior Leadership Team. Staff will then appreciate that policies and
management decisions are made from a position of knowledge and understanding
of what is actually happening in the school.
An experienced Curriculum Manager can take the SLT through the stages of monitoring
and outline strategies which will ensure quality data is presented for evaluation.
