From the very beginning,
the National Curriculum has emphasised the importance of Progression.
Each Key Stage needs to build on the knowledge and Skills which pupils already
have. This issue has become particularly relevant since the introduction of
Numeracy and Literacy in Key Stage 2.
An experienced curriculum manager can outline strategies for producing a Cross-Phase
Progression Policy. Such a policy would lay down guidelines for the review
of schemes of work in KS3, raising awareness of the improved Numeracy and
Literacy skills in all subjects and how to monitor progression across the
School.
