Developing Timetable
Criteria and the Timetable Schedule
Many
Schools use computer programs in the process of timetabling and they are, generally,
very efficient.
They do not, however, determine the curriculum structure which needs to reflect
each individual school's ethos and aims for the education of its pupils.
The successful outcomes of a timetable are determined by the policy decisions
made by the Head and Governors very early on in the Timetable cycle.
An experienced timetabler can outline how the criteria for the timetable are
determined and provide a model for the consultation with Staff, the collection
and collation of data and the negotiations which need to precede the development
of the timetable.
